At Ramakrishna Hospital, Medicine department comprises of well- trained and experienced consultants who have gained expertise in dealing with the diagnostic dilemmas and treating highly complex health situations that are particularly perplexing in the setting of general practice. Their invaluable experience has often solved medical puzzles of varied variety and presented those in various medical conferences of national and international level. Department of medicine believes in the holistic approach towards patients and thus multi-disciplinary team approach is desired. Apart from the medical team, includes nursing team physiotherapists and nutritionists, being the core part of the department as they play vital role not only in patient care but in patient education as well.

Out-patient Care – by senior eminent physicians is available to poor people in General out-patient department. Routine day to day problems like URI, Viral fever, Typhoid, Malaria, COPD, Bronchial Asthma, Pneumonia, Hypothyroidism, Liver diseases like Hepatitis are the common attendees.
In-patient Care – Sick patients with acute problems like Acute Gastroenteritis, Pneumonias, UTI, Sepsis, Accelerated Hypertension, Diabetic- complications etc. are admitted in the hospital either in the ward or critical care depending upon the severity of condition.

Management of chronic diseases: It classically includes elderly patients with multiple problems like Diabetes, Hypertension, Joint pains, Breathing problem(COPD), Vision and hearing problems. Co-ordination with different specialists is achieved to treat the patient as a whole. Infectious diseases mainly Malaria, Typhoid fever, Tuberculosis and Dengue fever etc. can present in atypical manner and pose a challenge to treating physicians but they are dealt smoothly with their invaluable experience.

Preventive Health Check-up department, an integral part of internal medicine department, exists separately in our hospital. It was set up with the maxim of “Prevention is better than cure” in mind. It deals with various types of preventive health check-ups required according to the need and age-group of the patient. Patient is given consultation by a senior Consultant of the hospital.
